Health Benefits of Hypnosis

Houston SkylineSome people may think that hypnosis is nothing more than a fancy way to control the minds of others. This misconception is partly due to the depiction in movies, magic shows, and other forms of entertainment.

However, there are real benefits for using hypnosis, and there are some scientific studies to back them up. These benefits should make you consider getting the help of a Houston hypnosis specialist. This article will list some of the health benefits of getting hypnosis in Houston, TX.

1. Better sleep-Sleep deprivation is one of the most common undiagnosed health problems in the world. This can be due to many reasons, but a major factor here is a higher exposure to stressful situations. Entering a hypnotic state makes a person more open to suggestion. In this case, that means being in a state relaxed enough that they can go to sleep.

2. Pain management-Yearly, people are spending a lot of dollars in pain management. This is especially so for people who are dealing with chronic or terminal illness. Beyond the costs, one cannot rule out the adverse health effects of traditional pain management to peoples’s bodies. Hypnosis presents an effective alternative for managing pain for these situations. It is used for treating pain secondary to health problems such as arthritis and fibromyalgia. If you are dealing with any of these conditions, a Houston hypnotist might be able to help you.

3. Conditions such as anxiety, and panic disorders are known to be responsive to hypnosis. When combined with prescribed treatments such as psychiatric medications and cognitive behavioral therapy, regularly receiving Houston hypnosis training can greatly improve the condition. If you are dealing with any of these issues you may at least consider receiving hypnosis.

4. Quitting smoking and substance abuse-This can be difficult, and hypnosis may be able to help. Beyond the physiological effects of such addictions, there are psychological components associated with them. It has been reported in a number of studies that the use of hypnosis for smoking and alcohol cessation has a high success rate. This means that if you use hypnosis, especially when combined with other forms of treatment, your odds of coming out clean in the long term is significantly increased.

5. Weight loss-Many people are seeking hypnosis for weight loss in Houston. Understand that this is more than just a fad, but rather this is a method that is backed by scientific facts. So how can hypnosis help you reach your weight loss goals? There are actually multiple ways. The most effective way that hypnosis can influence weight loss is by helping people change their eating behaviors. Hypnosis can also be used to motivate people to push themselves during exercise. Hypnosis can help you reach your fitness goals at the soonest time if used the right way.

These are just some of the health reasons why you should consider getting hypnosis in Houston, TX. Get your health on the right track with the help of our hypnosis services!

How To Stop Smoking Through Hypnosis

British Shorthair, Cat, Pet, MiezeQuitting smoking can be a daunting task, but it is one of the best things you can do for your body. Smoking is a risky and deadly habit that can have a serious impact on your health. If you have investigated quitting smoking, you may have observed that there are several ways offered; from taking pills to counseling sessions. Keep in mind that if one method worked for someone else, it doesn’t mean that it will work for you in the same way. One notable method used to help people to quit smoking is hypnosis

What Is Hypnosis to quit smoking ?

Hypnosis to quit smoking is a process where the individual is facilitated into a state of trance and enhanced suggestibility.  After an initial consultation, and discovery of the particular aspects of the person’s habit and their reasons to quit, a sequence of targeted suggestions specifically created for the individual are presented to them while they are in the heightened state of hypnotic suggestibility. When one imagines something vividly that supports the desired goal of being smoke free, resources are generated to dynamically support the individual to the realization of that goal.

Hypnosis For Smoking addiction

When an individual is hypnotized, they are aware of the surroundings as proven by several brain tests which have always indicated a high level of neural activity. During the hypnosis session, the client is encouraged to think of bad outcomes from smoking; for instance, the hypnotist may suggest that smoking makes their mouth parched and their throat raw. It basically tries to bring the unhealthy and bad sides of smoking to the surface and overwrite them with positive thoughts that will encourage the patient to cease this habit.

One popular and widely used smoking cessation method dubbed the Spiegel’s method emphasizes on three fundamental ideas which are;

•    Smoking is poisonous to the body.

•    You require your body to live.

•    You should take care of your body to the point that you would prefer to live.

If possible the hypnosis subject is  taught the art of self-hypnosis and are instructed to repeat the suggestion should they feel like smoking. Hypnosis will help the mind to work against the addiction as opposed to working for it.

Is It Effective?

Hypnosis is an effective way of quitting this habit, but keep in mind that it may not help you to stop the habit immediately.  It is important to remember that it is a process.  For some people it can be immediate, but for others It helps to reduce the cravings, and another session may be required. You will not feel the urge to smoke in the same way as before. Then, it becomes simpler to stop the habit on your own. Hypnosis is one of the most effective ways of quitting smoking and its success rate is tremendous. It is a natural method that does not involve the use of any drugs, something that makes it free from potential side effects.

It is never too late to quit smoking and doing so comes with several health benefits. Sign up for a hypnosis session today, and begin your smoke free life now.

Hypnosis Can Help You Quit Smoking

smoking catThat occasional smoke you would enjoy when drinking or searching for a high soon turned into a full-blown addiction. Now you are battling with that insatiable thirst for nicotine and have tried electronic cigarettes, pills, nicotine patches, and even going cold turkey, but nothing has worked.

A single puff of the cigarette introduced into your body many kinds of dangerous chemicals that can be the cause of different health issues, cancer being the biggest concern. The funny thing is that most smokers know how bad the habit is for them, and they entertain the idea of quitting. Having such a mindset is what makes hypnosis a sufficient solution to your smoking addiction.

Does Hypnosis Really Work?

Not many people appreciate hypnosis as a form of treatment because they view it as hogwash, a trick done by stage magicians. Other have the misconception that it is a form of mind control that makes people do things against their will. That is far from the truth; hypnosis is a state of focused attention that works by harnessing the power of the mind.

For instance, a person may have tried for years to stop smoking; having tried different things to help them with their addiction, but only went cold turkey after being told by their doctor that they have lung cancer caused by smoking. Why would they stop so suddenly after getting such news after they had tried many times over the years to no avail? It is all because of a mental response, a conditioning of the mind triggered by the bad news; that is a simple example of how hypnosis works.

It Starts With You

So, the first step of the treatment will need you to decide it is time to quit. It is an essential phase of the process, without which, hypnosis, nor any other form of treatment, can work. After addressing this step, the hypnotist  will help you focus on shaping your choices to help you enjoy a healthier you and feel positive about the future.

Our subconscious mind is what governs many of the decision and the things we do during our day to day activities, and this tends to hide many of the long-held harmful attitudes and habits from our conscious minds. It is hard to connect with our subconscious mind during the normal waking state, and that is where hypnosis comes in to help. The hypnotist will put you in a relaxed focused state of mind and implant positive suggestions that cause you to change your mindset about your smoking habit.

You need to find the right person with experience in hypnotherapy to help you on your road to recovery. As you look for the right hypnotist, also take the time to known all the risks associated with smoking that will fuel your reasons for quitting the habit. It is okay to fear the unknown when prepping for the hypnotherapy; hypnosis is an unfamiliar concept to many people. However, it works and is not expensive. Wouldn’t it be worth it having to spend a few hundred bucks on something that helps you quit smoking for good?

Understanding How Hypnosis Can Help You Quit Smoking

smoke free countryAsk anyone who smokes and they will tell you that quitting is no easy task. However, it is well worth the effort. Smoking can take a real toll on your health. Not only can it dramatically increase your risk of developing cancer but it can also make other health conditions like strokes, heart attacks, and emphysema much more likely. These effects can be far-reaching, even going so far as to affect your bone density and your eyesight.

There are a lot of different products on the market that are designed to make it easier to quit. However, these products are not effective for everyone. If you have already tried a lot of different options and haven’t had the success that you want, hypnosis may be the answer. Some researchers have found that hypnosis can be beneficial for certain people when they are quitting smoking.

A Closer Look At Hypnosis

When you are hypnotized, your mind enters a deeply relaxed state where it is extremely responsive to the power of suggestion. This treatment option has proven beneficial for treating a variety of different physical and mental health conditions. A great example of this is its use in the field of pain management. Through hypnosis, patients who experience chronic pain are able to manage that pain more effectively. Other uses for hypnosis include everything from helping people lose weight to helping them overcome addictions.

The exact method by which hypnosis works is not entirely clear. Some experts attribute its benefits to the fact that your mind is relaxed. Without all of the clutter, you are better able to concentrate on the suggestions that you are given, helping them sink more deeply into your mind. The part of the mind activated during hypnosis is the subconscious. The subconscious part of our mind reasons deductively. It is a creative system.

What this means is that, once a well formed premise presented with significant emotional emphasis is accepted by the subconscious, it then begins deductively expressing itself outwardly and creatively without really questioning the logic of the original premise. The subconscious is more of an emotional system, not a logical system. When it comes to smoking, there must be a significant emotional attachment to something that can only be achieved by being a non-smoker, or something that can only be avoided by being a non-smoker; often times a bit of both is involved. A purely intellectual idea, or of course any manner of duress is typically not effective. As unusual as it may be to consider, what actually happens when one uses hypnosis to address the smoking habit, is that the individual becomes a non-smoker. It is a process. If however the process occurs very quickly, the individual will interpret it as an event rather than a process, and say that they stopped smoking. Remember the subconscious is a deductive system, and as such is not involved with the stopping of things. It is instead involved with the creating of things.

It is important to note that you never lose control during the hypnosis process. When you are hypnotized, you always know exactly what is going on around you. Additionally, a hypnotist can’t convince you to do something if you don’t want to do it. Interestingly, studies have shown that brain activity is high during periods of hypnosis, implying that the brain is actively working the whole time.

Using Hypnosis To Quit Smoking

There are a variety of hypnotic suggestions that can be used to help someone quit smoking. In many cases, the hypnotherapist will try to associate the smoking process with an unpleasant experience. For instance, they may suggest that cigarette smoke tastes like garbage or that smoking leaves an unpleasant feeling in the person’s mouth.

The hypnosis technique known as Spiegel’s method uses suggestions that support these three concepts:

*Cigarette smoke acts like a poison in the body
* Your body is essential for life
* If you want to stay alive, you need to treat your body with respect

By educating clients on self-hypnosis and giving them a list of affirmations that they can use when cravings hit, hypnotherapists can make the process of quitting easier.
Of course there are many hypnotic strategies that can be effective, and they must be considered and tailored to the individual. A cookie cutter approach is usually not as effective.

How Effective Is Hypnosis?

The effectiveness of hypnosis is hotly debated. About a quarter of the population are not easily hypnotized. That is they need to be taught the state of mind thru a series of steps, however even the percentage of the population that or easily hypnotized, the effectiveness of this treatment option can vary.

Throughout the years, there have been conflicting results from various scientific studies. In fact, there were two separate reviews done of all of the published literature on the use of hypnosis as a treatment option – one in 2010 and another in 2012. The 2010 study found that the evidence did not support using hypnosis as a treatment option. The 2012 study, on the other hand, found that hypnosis could be beneficial. Even the American Cancer Society provides somewhat conflicting information, stating that although studies have not proven that hypnosis is effective for quitting smoking, there is plenty of anecdotal evidence to support its use.

Some will claim that the American Medical Association (AMA) recommends the use of hypnosis as an approved therapy. In fact, however, this well-known organization has not put out an official statement regarding their position on using hypnosis as an option. Although they did have a statement on file in the past, it was retracted in the late 1980s.

At this time, most experts stress the need for additional studies before any conclusions can be drawn. However, hypnosis may still be beneficial in the fight against smoking. The key to success is to use multiple tactics to overcome this powerful addiction.

Choosing a Hypnotist

Rapport is key when doing hypnotic work. After doing your research, you should call and speak to the hypnotist. They should be willing to answer your questions, in fact perhaps even allow you to drop by their office and briefly meet them to make certain you are comfortable.

Are Stage Hypnosis Acts Real?

kitty hypnosisIt’s fairly safe to say that over the course of the past few decades, the art of hypnosis has been used for some pretty ridiculous things. From being performed as a party trick on friends and family, right through to stage shows and more – what used to be a state of spirituality is now widely regarded as a source of entertainment.

Although the majority of our clients rely on our hypnosis services in Houston for help with their addictions, habits, and common concerns – there are times when we find ourselves having to reinforce the authenticity of what we offer. The first thing that you need to know is that hypnosis isn’t magic, nor is it a way to force someone to strip off and dance around naked.

It’s an advanced, psychological technique that can provide access to a trained hypnotist in a way that can allow them to improve a person’s emotional well-being in general.

So, are on-stage acts real?

Sure, in some cases people prancing around like ponies and even talking in other languages can stem from some semblance of reality – but these shows are often put on for entertainment purposes and bare minimal, if any, resemblance to actual hypnosis. Being hypnotized isn’t something that can instantly result in a person becoming a victim of mind-control – it’s simply a state of relaxation not too dissimilar to meditation that can make an individual more prone to receive information.

And it’s in this state that our experts such as TC LeNormand specialize in. By tapping into a part of the human psyche that is otherwise locked up and inaccessible, it can become possible to provide information, guidance and support when it’s needed. What this means is that when performed properly, hypnosis can be a very effective way of encouraging the subconscious to change the way in which it operates – which is why it’s so effective when addressing cigarette habits, or food addictions.

Does that mean that stage acts are fake?

Well in a word, no. Some fully trained hypnotist do turn their talents to entertainment – and as they understand the techniques associated with hypnosis, they can certainly make an audience member feel as if they have been hypnotized. But the actions that follow are often widely exaggerated. What can be said however, is that when used properly, it can become a possibility to modify the way in which a person’s subconscious receives and reacts to information.

And by doing so it can be possible to train a person’s mind into no longer desiring cigarettes, or into reducing their food intake in order to lose weight. Hypnosis should never be considered a trick, in fact at the very least it’s a powerful tool capable of helping a person to overcome their troubles and afflictions, from a mental point of view.

Hypnosis can sometimes be mistaken as a type of party trick – but this couldn’t be further from the truth. Sure, on-stage acts can be entertaining, but are they real or do the performers exaggerate what they are doing for their audience? You’ll be pleased to hear that our Houston hypnosis sessions aren’t designed to entertain but to help, but if you’d like to learn a little more about the reality behind the techniques, why not take a look at our latest blog post?

Can Hypnosis Cure Common Illnesses?

healthy girl eating appleThe human brain is an incredibly powerful tool. Not only is it capable of processing thousands of pieces of information in the space of a few seconds; it can also manage pain, control emotions, and much more in between. Our hypnosis services in Houston work by tapping into particular parts of the subconscious to allow the brain to reprogram particular actions and habits – and this is why the techniques can be so effective when dealing with smoking addictions. But can the methods do more?

Is Hypnosis Able to Cure Common Ailments?

No. It really has to be as simple an answer as that. Any hypnotherapist that promises that their sessions will rid your body of cancer or cure your bowel obstructions is whole-heartedly exaggerating the possibilities. But does that mean that the techniques involved with the practice can’t play any role in recovery and rehabilitation? Well, this answer is a little trickier to explain, but I’ll certainly give it a shot.

As mentioned above – the human brain, your brain, is incredibly powerful. It doesn’t just govern your actions; it is also responsible for producing and releasing natural chemicals into your body, and this is why you’ll sometimes hear that the power of positive thinking can be a great way to recover from a trauma, or to overcome an ailment.

Although medical treatment is the better option when addressing a specific condition – there’s no reason why a state of hypnosis couldn’t be used to encourage the brain to produce more of a particular substance; and one that may be able to aid in relaxation and the reduction of stress. When a person feels stressed, it’s not uncommon for adrenaline and cortisol to be produced.

What do these chemicals do?

Both can contribute to elevated blood pressure, which can put additional stress on your heart and organs in general – so it’s always worth avoiding excess production whenever possible. And where does hypnosis come in? Well, in the simplest way it can help to provide a balanced level of chemical production, by helping your mind to feel relaxed and within a controlled environment.

Balance means less excessive production of chemicals, and when your body is suffering from a medical concern it’s these chemicals that can contribute to the expansion of a condition. So, to answer the question ‘can hypnosis cure cancer, disease, or an illness in general’ the answer would have to be no – but it can certainly play a part in your bodies’ natural potential to recover.

To learn more about the potential of hypnosis, or to book yourself into one of our sessions, then simply give me a call or send me an email at your convenience. I’d be more than happy to provide further information should you need it – and until next time stay safe, and try to focus on positivity.

We’re often asked if our Houston hypnosis services can help with long-term medical conditions. Hypnosis itself is an incredibly potent tool that we have at our disposal, and if you head over to our recent blog post, I’ll be talking all about how it can be used to help with medical conditions – and the facts might actually surprise you. Can it cure cancer? No. But why not learn a little more about what it actually can do to help your body?

What Does It Mean to Be Susceptible to Hypnosis?

hypnotized catFor those of you that are brand new to the concept of hypnosis, the first thing to consider is that there’s no magic involved, nor should you expect to start floating at any point during your session. Hypnosis is defined as a state of being whereby an individual may find themselves more prone to acknowledge, understand, and receive information on a subconscious level – as technical as that might sound.

The simplest way to describe the technique is by approaching it with an open mind; and we say open for a reason.

Have you ever heard about people not being susceptible to hypnosis, for example? It can occur from time to time, even if it is uncommon. It won’t matter who you are, how much you make, or if you live in Houston or somewhere a little further afield – if you don’t walk into a session with an open-mind, then the methodology of hypnosis might not work for you. But does that mean that you might never be capable of taking advantage of its benefits?

What it means to be susceptible to hypnosis

In this line of work, where the subconscious mind can be so important, there is one thing that’s more important than all else – and that’s a willingness to experience the events associated with a state of hypnosis. Although our physical bodies are constantly undergoing a range of internal (and often external processes), our mental states are just as prone to experiencing activities. If a person was going to hit you in the face, your natural reflexes would be to safeguard yourself.

Your mental-being works in much the same way. It can develop reflexes over time, and it’s these innate processes that can often go on to become habits and addictions. Instead of having to protect your face from an attack, you might find that your mind depends on smoking cigarettes to provide a general feeling of balance and calmness. But where does hypnotic susceptibility fit into things, exactly?

Well, it’s all about how open you are to receiving the treatment – a treatment that has been around for centuries for those of you that didn’t know. By allowing the methodology to take effect on your mind, you’ll be putting yourself in a position to reap the rewards of the treatment. But that leads to another question – can anything be done if you aren’t susceptible to the therapy itself? And if so, what?

Accepting what you cannot see

Hypnosis can’t be seen, nor can it be heard. But when allowed the right amount of time it can certainly be felt. Even those that are sceptical can learn to open their minds in a way that allows their subconscious to absorb the techniques, take advantage of the re-programming, and as a result; overcome any obstacles that a person might be facing.

Hypnosis can help to loosen the strict addictive processes associated with smoking, as well as encourage the body to cope without consuming larger quantities of food. Instead of passing the techniques off as foolishness; going into a session and simply allowing yourself to be open-minded about the potential can be all that it takes to prepare your subconscious for improvements to your life.
